The Federal Civil Service has moved into the implementation phase of its digital transformation agenda with the inauguration of an 11-member Technical Working Committee by the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation.
Inaugurating the committee, the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Didi Esther Walson-Jack, said the initiative marks a major milestone in reforming the Service and must translate into measurable improvements in government operations and service delivery.
She charged the committee to develop a Digital Transformation Implementation Framework and Roadmap covering governance, interoperability, cybersecurity, financing, capacity development, implementation, and monitoring.
Walson-Jack stressed that successful digital transformation would depend not only on technology, but also on people, processes and institutional culture.
Responding on behalf of the committee, the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Nadungu Gagare, pledged the members’ commitment to developing a practical, sustainable and inclusive framework for the Nigerian Civil Service.
The committee, chaired by Deborah Odoh, who is Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, is expected to submit its first report within one week.
The report will guide the constitution of a Steering Committee, to be chaired by the Head of the Civil Service, to provide strategic oversight for the implementation of the digital transformation agenda.
