Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri says his administration has cleared outstanding pensions and gratuities owed to retirees in the state’s local government areas.
The governor disclosed this while receiving officials of the National Pension Commission, PenCom, at Government House in Yenagoa.
Governor Diri says pensioners in the state now receive their monthly pensions regularly, while gratuities are also being paid to retired civil servants.
The Director-General of PenCom, Omolola Oloworaran, represented by the Commissioner for Finance, Charles Emukowhate, commended the state government for its commitment to pensioners’ welfare and the payment of pensions and gratuities.
The proposed partnership between the state government and PenCom is expected to strengthen pension administration and improve the welfare of retirees across Bayelsa State.
