Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, says President Bola Tinubu’s non-interference in electoral processes demonstrates a commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s democracy and allowing democratic institutions to operate independently.

Akume spoke during a visit to the headquarters of the City Boy Movement in Abuja, where he also highlighted the administration’s reforms in taxation, education, healthcare and other sectors.

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation says respect for the independence of electoral institutions is essential to strengthening Nigeria’s democracy.

George Akume says President Bola Tinubu’s approach to elections reflects what he describes as a commitment to allowing democratic institutions to perform their responsibilities without undue influence.

Beyond elections, Akume pointed to ongoing reforms in taxation, education and healthcare as part of the administration’s economic and social agenda.

He cited the Nigerian Education Loan Fund and investments in specialised healthcare facilities among government interventions.

The SGF also called for Nigeria’s ethnic, cultural and religious diversity to be treated as a source of strength rather than division.

He urged Nigerians to support initiatives aimed at national unity and development.

Director-General of the City Boy Movement, Shoga Francis, says the organisation plans to expand its grassroots structures across the country and mobilise ten million young Nigerians.

He says the movement will promote greater participation in the democratic process while mobilising support for President Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The City Boy Movement also named Akume Chairperson of its Advisory Council, citing his support for the administration and youth participation in national development.
