Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, says the Federal Government’s nationwide Liquefied Petroleum Gas penetration initiative goes beyond the distribution of gas cylinders, stressing that it is aimed at empowering families and improving livelihoods.
The Governor stated this during the distribution of LPG cylinders and the launch of the Local Women Empowerment Initiative Entrepreneurship Programme in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
Governor Umo Eno was joined at the ceremony by the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Gas, Ekperikpe Ekpo, and the wife of the Senate President, Unoma Akpabio.
The Governor said the initiative would help reduce the cost of living by providing families with access to a cleaner and more affordable cooking fuel.

Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Gas, Ekperikpe Ekpo, said the initiative targets one million households annually across the country, as part of efforts to deepen LPG penetration and promote cleaner cooking.
In Akwa Ibom State, twenty-seven thousand women are expected to benefit from the programme, while about five million beneficiaries are targeted nationwide.
