Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia

The Benue State, Governor Hyacinth Alia has officially sworn in seven newly confirmed cabinet commissioners alongside key statutory board appointees in a major move to accelerate his administration’s development agenda.

Beyond the cabinet restructuring, Governor Alia also addressed rising public anxiety over the controversial national ranching policy, reassuring citizens that his administration remains people-oriented and will not support any mandate forced against the collective will of the state.

The Old Banquet Hall at the Government House in Makurdi was filled to capacity as political leaders, government functionaries, and well-wishers gathered for the inauguration.

Seven new commissioners—recently screened and cleared by the Benue State House of Assembly—officially took their oaths of office, signaling a targeted effort to boost institutional capacity across key state ministries.

Governor Hyacinth Alia framed the cabinet rejig as a critical step in revitalizing public service.

Emphasizing that appointments were strictly performance-driven, he charged the new cabinet members to maintain a direct connection with the grassroots.

Responding on behalf of the newly sworn-in team, Nick Eworo pledged total dedication to public service and the realization of the administration’s policy goals.

The swearing-in ceremony extended beyond the cabinet.

Governor Alia also administered the oath of office to a new member of the Benue State Assembly Service Commission, as well as the Chairman, Secretary, and Board Members of Benue Television—tasking them to drive innovation and modernize state broadcast media.

Seizing the national spotlight, Governor Alia directly addressed lingering friction surrounding the national ranching proposal.

Urging calm, the Governor doused public anxiety, reassuring citizens that no federal policy would be forced upon the people without their consent.

Governor Alia concluded the ceremony with a direct mandate: all appointees are to assume their duties immediately and align their operational goals with the state’s strategic roadmap.

The Governor emphasized that measurable impact and responsive governance will remain the primary benchmarks for assessing the performance of the newly inaugurated executive council.
