President Bola Tinubu has directed the Armed Forces, Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Services and other relevant security and intelligence agencies to immediately launch a coordinated operation to rescue victims of the recent mass abduction in Niger State.
The President, who condemned the abduction and killing of innocent citizens, described the perpetrators as enemies of peace and humanity, warning that they would not go unpunished.
According to a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, on Tuesday President Tinubu also extended his condolences to the families of those killed in the attack, assuring them that the Federal Government would do everything possible to secure the safe return of those abducted.
The President directed the Service Chiefs to provide him with regular updates on the progress of the rescue operation until all the victims are accounted for.
Tinubu said the attacks would not cow the country, stressing that his administration would continue to defend Nigerians, protect communities and uphold the sanctity of human life.
He also assured the Niger State Government and the people of the state of Federal Government’s full support in the areas of recovery, relief and security reinforcement.
