Kenya’s Minister of Information, Communications and Digital Economy, William Kabogo Gitau, has confirmed his attendance and Kenya’s full participation at the 2026 World Public Relations Forum, WPRF, and the 37th African Public Relations Association, APRA, Conference scheduled to hold in Abuja, Nigeria, from November 15 to 21, 2026.
The Minister gave the assurance in Nairobi while receiving a Nigerian delegation led by the President of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, NIPR, Ike Neliaku.
Describing the World Public Relations Forum as an African project requiring continental collaboration, Gitau said Kenya would support initiatives aimed at promoting Africa’s image and showcasing its potential to the world.
He stressed the importance of collective participation, noting that Kenya has a strong interest in the global public relations gathering.
Earlier, the NIPR President, Ike Neliaku, briefed the Kenyan Minister on some of the innovative programmes lined up for the 2026 WPRF.
These include the inauguration of the world’s first University of Public Relations and Leadership, the Nigeria Jollof Rice Festival, the Akara Festival and a seven-hour tailoring service for foreign delegates, among other activities.
Neliaku also presented an invitation from Nigeria’s Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, to the African Ministers of Information Roundtable, which will form part of the WPRF activities.
According to the NIPR President, the roundtable is expected to provide a platform for African Ministers of Information to deliberate on contemporary challenges in information management and promote responsible communication across the continent.
The 2026 WPRF and 37th APRA Conference are expected to bring together public relations professionals, government officials, policymakers, academics and other stakeholders from across Africa and the world.
