The Inspector General of Police Olatunji Disu has promised to fast-track the provision of befitting accommodation for his officers and men following the ongoing redevelopment of 21 barrack projects across Lagos state.
IGP Olatunji Disu made this public sunday during his maiden tour to Lagos where he visited some barracks in the state on a fact finding mission as part of his efforts to improve the welfare of members of the Nigerian Police Force across the country.
It was the maiden visit to Lagos state since IGP Olatunji Disu assumed office about 6 months ago and an opportunity for him to relate with the officers in the state about their accommodation issues.
He was accompanied by the AIG Zone 2 in charge of Lagos and Ogun states, AIG Moshood Jimoh and other top Police officers on ground, as well as the Lagos state Commissioner for Tourism , Arts and Culture,Toke- Benson Awoyinka.
They visited ongoing housing rehabilitation and infrastructure works of the Nigerian Police in 17 barracks including a police Hospital at Falomo.
The IGP expressed disappointment over the conditions in some barracks which were unattended to after the demolition exercise leaving the open space to be filled with shanties and businesses.

The Lagos state Commissioner for Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Toke’- Benson Awoyinka expressed satisfaction over the partnership between the Lagos state government and the Nigerian Police force to provide lasting solutions to the housing deficit issue.
She stressed that about 1000 housing units are expected to be ready by early 2027 for Police officers as she also dismissed claims that Police barracks in the state were being sold .
