The National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, has called for stronger collaboration among security agencies, government institutions and communities to address Nigeria’s evolving internal security challenges.
Ribadu made the call at the opening of Exercise HASKE BIYU 2026 at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji.
The three-week exercise, themed “Building Resilient Communities through Effective Security Sector Collaboration,” focuses on internal security and low-intensity conflict operations.
It is designed to strengthen joint planning, intelligence sharing and coordination among security stakeholders, while deepening participants’ understanding of military operations other than war.
The exercise will also examine kinetic and non-kinetic approaches to conflict management.

Declaring the exercise open, the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, represented by the Director of the Internal Security Office in the Office of the National Security Adviser, Sani Sani, described the training as timely, given the security challenges confronting the country.
He noted that exercise HASKE BIYU provides a platform for translating military theory into realistic planning and decision-making.
The NSA further stressed the need to promote cross-fertilisation of ideas, sustainable conflict resolution and stronger institutional cooperation in addressing Nigeria’s internal security challenges.
Participants are expected to examine past and ongoing security operations, share lessons learned and develop practical recommendations that could contribute to contingency planning and military doctrine.
