The African Action Congress, AAC, in Oyo State has petitioned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, over how Oyo State Government funds will be disbursed as Nigeria prepares for the 2027 General elections.
In a letter dated September 9, 2026 and received by the EFCC Ibadan Zonal Office on September 14, 2026, the party’s lawyers, Damilare Adenola and Co Law Practice, said the petition seeks “vigilant monitoring and scrutiny of the pattern of expenditure of Oyo State Government funds during the 2027 election period.”
The letter, signed on behalf of the AAC Oyo State Chairman, Mr. Kayode Babayomi, stated that the party has a “direct and legitimate interest in the transparent and accountable management of public funds in Oyo State,” especially as the state approaches the 2027 General elections.
The AAC argued that monitoring government spending before, during and after elections is key to preventing the misuse of public resources for political purposes.
The petition was addressed to the Zonal Director of the EFCC, Ibadan Zonal Office, located at Iyaganku G.R.A, Ibadan.
EFCC officials are yet to comment on the petition.
The 2027 elections are expected to hold nationwide in February 2027.
