Farmers in Edo State say improved security is giving them the confidence to return to farmlands they had abandoned over safety concerns.
They say easier access to their farms is allowing them to resume cultivation without the level of fear that previously kept some of them away.
For some farmers, insecurity had made the journey to their farmlands a risk they were no longer willing to take.
Now, they say the situation is changing, with farmers who had stayed away gradually returning to cultivation.
The farmers attribute the improvement to security measures by the administration of Governor Monday Okpebholo and say safer access to farmlands could help restore agricultural activity in affected communities.

Edo State has vast arable land, and for these farmers, keeping that land productive will depend partly on their ability to reach and work on their farms safely.
