The National Orientation Agency, NOA, has urged Nigerians to respect political differences and reject hate speech and violence as the country moves towards the 2027 general elections.
The call is part of the agency’s message as Nigeria marks its 66th Independence Anniversary.
Director General of the NOA, Lanre Issa Onilu, said Nigerians must protect the country’s peace and unity by resolving political disagreements through lawful means.
He described independence as a defining milestone that gave Nigerians the opportunity to determine their own destiny and shape the nation’s future.
Issa Onilu said Nigeria has made progress despite its challenges, stressing that national development depends not only on government but also on the contribution of citizens.
