The Nigerian Army has commenced its 2026 Captain-to-Major Practical Promotion Examination in Jos, Plateau State, with 259 officers taking part in the exercise.
The TRADOC Commander and Examination President, Major General Peter Malla, says the integrity of the examination is non-negotiable, warning candidates against seeking shortcuts to success.
The examination is aimed at assessing the professional competence of the officers and preparing them for higher command and staff responsibilities.
Speaking at the commencement of the exercise, Major General Malla said the assessment was professionally designed to ensure fairness and uphold the standards of the Nigerian Army.
He said the exercise is being conducted in line with the Nigerian Army Charter for Promotion Examinations 2022, Revised.
Major General Malla urged the candidates to approach the examination with discipline, focus, and determination, noting that their performance will contribute to their selection for Junior Command and Staff Colleges within and outside Nigeria.
The GOC 3 Division Nigerian Army and Commander, Joint Task Force Operation ENDURING PEACE, Major General Maxwell Dangana, assured the examination team and candidates that the Division would provide a conducive environment for the successful conduct of the exercise.
The GOC also stressed the Division’s commitment to supporting the Nigerian Army’s efforts to strengthen professional military education and prepare officers for greater responsibilities.
