Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has welcomed the Federal Government’s approval for the establishment of an Army Brigade in the Ahoada axis of the state.
The governor said the new military formation will strengthen existing security operations, complement the efforts of the Nigerian Army’s 6 Division and enhance the fight against crime in the area.
He gave the assurance when he received the new Commander of the 6 Division Garrison, Major General Ismaila Sule, at Government House, Port Harcourt.
In keeping with tradition, the Infantry general was at the Government House, Port Harcourt to formally introduce himself to Governor Siminalayi Fubara and brief him on security developments in the state.
The Commander also acknowledged the support of the Rivers State Government to the Nigerian Army, noting that such cooperation remains important to the military’s operations.
The visit also brought encouraging news, as the army commander announced the Federal Government’s approval for the establishment of an Army Brigade in the Ahoada axis of the state.

The proposed formation is expected to strengthen the military’s presence in the area, improve operational response and support ongoing efforts to tackle criminal activities.
Governor Fubara welcomed the development, expressing confidence that the new formation would complement existing security structures and contribute to improved safety for residents.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting the Nigerian Army and other security agencies in the discharge of their responsibilities.
As Major General Sule settles into his new assignment, the governor assured him of the state government’s continued cooperation and support, stressing the importance of collaboration between the military and the state in maintaining peace and security.
For the Rivers State Government, the proposed Army Brigade represents another step towards strengthening security and protecting lives and property, particularly in the Ahoada axis.
