The Niger State Universal Basic Education Board (NSUBEB) has procured 56 motorcycles and distributed essential learning materials to the 25 Local Government Education Authorities (LGEAs) to strengthen teaching and learning, enhance community engagement, and improve monitoring and evaluation across public basic schools in the State.
The intervention aims to improve the operational efficiency of Social Mobilisation Officers and Monitoring and Evaluation Officers in carrying out their official responsibilities, particularly in community advocacy, stakeholder engagement, school supervision, and quality assurance of teaching and learning.
In addition to the motorcycles, the Board procured and distributed 236,800 customised 40-leaf exercise books, 14,509 copies of diaries and record books, 16,215 attendance registers, 11,000 admission registers, and 166 cartons of chalk to schools across the 25 LGEAs.
Speaking during the handover of the motorcycle keys to the beneficiaries, the Executive Chairman of the Board, Ibrahim Liman, represented by Full-Time Member I, Abraham Umar, charged the officers to maintain the motorcycles properly and use them judiciously for their intended purpose.
He also urged Education Secretaries across the State to ensure that all distributed learning materials reach the intended schools and beneficiaries, warning that any diversion of the materials would attract appropriate sanctions.
Liman further called on education stakeholders, particularly School-Based Management Committees (SBMCs), to actively monitor the distribution of the materials in their respective communities to ensure transparency, accountability, and equitable access by schools.
