Former Imo State Governor Senator Rochas Okorocha has been released on bail following his arrest over allegations of criminal conspiracy, forgery, and impersonation.
He is expected at Force Headquarters in Abuja this Tuesday for further questioning.
Police arrested Okorocha on Monday night at the REIZ Continental Hotel in Abuja.
Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, told AIT News correspondent Ada Ononye in a telephone interview that the former governor had declined three police invitations before his arrest.
Iniedu said Okorocha was granted bail on self-recognisance after an hour of interrogation.
An initial invitation for September 2 was rescheduled to September 8 at his lawyers’ request, but he reportedly failed to appear.
Investigations into the allegations are continuing.
