The African Action Congress, AAC, says it will use the Federal High Court and the Federal Ministry of Justice in Abuja as campaign venues for October 2026.
The party says the decision follows what it describes as judicial harassment and politically motivated distractions targeting its presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore.
In a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Rex Elanu, the AAC said Sowore had been compelled to devote significant campaign time to defending himself in an alleged cyberbullying case brought against him by the Department of State Services. Reporting on the proceedings confirms that the DSS brought the case.
The party described the case as frivolous, saying it had diverted time and resources from engaging Nigerians on national issues.
It said campaign activities would continue wherever Sowore was required to appear, insisting that the proceedings would not disrupt its engagement with the electorate.
The AAC called on members, democracy advocates and concerned Nigerians to assemble at the Federal High Court in Abuja at 8 a.m. on Monday, October 19, for Sowore’s next court appearance. Reports on the previous proceedings confirm the October 19 adjournment date.
According to the party, the mobilisation is intended to demonstrate support for democratic rights, freedom of expression and access to justice.
The AAC reaffirmed its commitment to its campaign, saying litigation would not suspend its political activities.
