The leadership crisis within the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, in Plateau State has deepened following a vote of no confidence passed against State Chairman Solomon Yakubu Ndam and members of the State Executive Committee.
The move is backed by the State Deputy Chairman, three Zonal Chairmen and at least twelve of the seventeen Local Government Area Chairmen, amid a dispute over the party’s 2027 governorship ticket.
In a press statement dated October 14, the signatories faulted Chairman Solomon Yakubu Ndam’s public position on the party’s governorship candidate, saying it raises concerns about unity and internal party discipline.

The disagreement centres on competing claims over the NDC’s 2027 governorship ticket involving Da Jonathan Sunday Akuns and Alfred Ali Dapal, who are currently in court over the matter at the Federal High Court in Jos.
The signatories say the vote of no confidence does not automatically remove or suspend the affected officials, noting that any disciplinary action must follow the party’s constitution and due process.
