As the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN marks 50 years of its existence, its President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, is calling for greater unity and peaceful coexistence within the Christian body, stressing the need for a united Church to strengthen its role in national development.
The call was made at the association’s golden jubilee celebration, which brought together Christian leaders and prominent Nigerians to reflect on CAN’s journey and its contribution to the country.
Fifty years after its establishment, the CAN continues to play a role in bringing together Christians across denominations and promoting a common voice on issues affecting the Church and the country.
At the anniversary celebration, the CAN president urged Christians to preserve the unity of the association, emphasising that peace, mutual understanding and collective purpose remain essential to the Church’s influence in society.
The event also recognised individuals for their contributions, with Delta State Governor, Sheriff Obovrewori, the Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, Nigeria First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu and former Presidents Goodluck Jonathan and Olusegun Obasanjo among those honoured.
