The rate of poverty and hunger in Nigeria over time has remained a source of concern with the situation being worse in remote communities that have predominantly low-income earners.

It is in this backdrop that the Canadian Government is concerned, and initiated the Livelihood and Nutrition Empowerment, LINE as stated by the representative of the Country Director, Samuel Lashom.

Bauchi State Government representative said, being one of the states in Nigeria with a high-level poverty index, the signing of the MoU will no doubt reduce the poverty level in rural communities.

The LINE project is a market-based agricultural initiative that promotes agricultural-driven economic growth, which is to respond directly to the unmet financial services of the remote, difficult-to-reach and rural poor communities in Bauchi State.
