Terrorists kill 1, abduct newlyweds in Katsina

Suspected terrorists have again launched an attack on shola quarters behind the recently converted Federal Medical Centre now, Federal Teaching Hospital, Katsina within the metropolis, abducting a newly married couple of about 5 months.

The police say they are on top of the situation with a view to rescuing the couple.

This is the second time the terrorists are attacking the quarters after harvesting millions of naira as ransom from the initial abduction of 8 persons which took place sometimes in June, 2022.

A source who confirmed the incident to ait.live said, the attack took place early Sunday morning at about 1.am when the terrorists stormed the quarters.

He said the house of the newlyweds, Yusuf Attah and his wife was specifically singled out during the attack as they were the only ones abducted.

It was gathered that, the terrorists faced resistance from the vigilante members of the area but overpowered them and killed one while, 2 others were injured and are currently receiving treatment at a facility while the dead has been buried.

The police spokesman, Superintendent Gambo Isah who confirmed the incident said the information about the attack was still sketchy at the time of this report but promised to give details after receiving same from officers and men deployed to the area for an operation.

According to Isah, the police are working round the clock to ensure the couple regain freedom.

This attack is coming less than a week after terrorists launched a daring night attack on Natsinta village adjacent to the 35 Battalion of the Nigerian Army and the new Katsina correctional facility where they abducted 13 persons as well at a different location at Dantsauni in Batagarawa Local Government Area where they also abducted 3 women, killed 2 others and injured another.
