The Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom has revoked all rights granted mining racketeers by some communities within Benue State territory, warning that anyone caught indulging in or abating illegal mining activities will be prosecuted.
The Governor gave the directive during an emergency security interface with stakeholders drawn from Kwande local government area over illegal mining of gold in the area and specifically banned all mining activities in the area.
The entire Kwande traditional council,religious and political class were at the Government House at the instance of the chief security officer of the State.

He Stated the reason for the meeting which was centred on illegal mining activities in parts of the local government area.
The Chief executive went a step further to subject the said activities to proper scrutiny.
Speaker after speaker were unanimous on the need to embrace unity of purpose to over come the security challenges confronting the State.
Governor Ortom promised to extend the gesture to other parts of the State with similar mining challenges.
