The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Cross River State has called on the people of the state to ask the state government questions on what it used the huge amount of funds approved for the 2022 Carnival without adequate provision for security that led to death of eight persons during the bikers Carnival parade in Calabar
The Governorship Candidate of the party, Professor Sandy Onor, stated this shortly after he visited the families of those who lost their lives during the accident, describing it as avoidable if the state government had put in place necessary measures in place for Security on Carnival routes.

Onor,, who visited the Hausa/Fulani Community in Calabar, shortly after he led his team to provide succour for the injured victims at the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital, said never again should the organisers of Carnival allow such to happen.
On his part, the Head of Hausa/Fulani and Muslim Community in Cross River State, Seriki Garuba Lawan, commended the PDP governorship candidate for the visit and cash donation to support families of the affected victims, saying the number of the injured keeps increasing on a daily basis.
A private driver had lost control on bikers Carnival day and rammed into a crowd of spectators, killing eight persons and fourty four have so far been recorded injured during the incident along Bogobiri area of Calabar.
