Obasanjo and Peter Obi

The All Progressives Congress has described the endorsement of Labour Party Presidential candidate for the 2023 Presidential election Peter Obi as worthless and of no consequece.

In its reaction to Obasanjo’s endorsement, Director, Media and Publicity of the APC Presidential committee says while it respects the democratic rights of former president Obasanjo to support and endorse any candidate in any election, the APC will not lose sleep over Obasanjo’s endorsement of Obi as Obasanjo is notorious for always opposing progressive political forces as he did against MKO Abiola in 1993.

The campaign council noted that the endorsement was worthless because the former President does not possess any political goodwill or leverage anywhere in Nigeria to make anyone win a council election let alone win a Presidential election.

The APC campaign council noted that former President Obasanjo has not successfully made anyone win election in Nigeria, not even in Ogun state where no one can rely on his support or endorsement to become a Governor or councillor.

The council advised Peter Obi not to rely on Obasanjo’s endorsement as he (Obasanjo) cannot win his Polling unit and ward in Abeokuta for Obi in the coming Presidential election on February 25, 2023.

According to the statement, Obasanjo’s endorsement is not a political currency Obi can spend anywhere in Nigeria because he is not a political force, even in his part of the country.

It noted that Tinubu will beat Obi in the Presidential election just like President Buhari did when Obasanjo endorsed Atiku Abubakar in 2019.
