Israel set to help Africa develop health sector

Israel’s Hadassah Hospital is ready to support African countries in improving its health sector, so says Director of Public Relations and Communications, Hadassah Office Barbara Sofer, on Wednesday.

While addressing some Nigerian journalists in Jerusalem ,Sofer said Haddasah hospital has recorded several breakthroughs in research and procedures, making it the solution centre for any difficult condition.

According to her, one of such breakthroughs is a treatment for bone marrow cancer, known as myeloma.

Executive Director, Hadassah Office in Israel, Suzzie Benvenziti, said the hospital operates an open-door policy, which makes it open to everyone irrespective of religion. and race

She added that the hospital is a Centre of Excellence with over 200 ongoing research projects.

The hospital also serves more than 1 million people annually.

Anaesthesia Specialist in the hospital,Holgar Fung, said African countries will benefit from Hadassah Hospital to improve medi-care in the continent.

Fung, a Cameroonian doctor in the center, urged African governments to build health infrastructure, equip them, organise regular trainings of medical personnel, improve and carry out more procedures and research to meet global standards.

Fung said African leaders must focus on building the continent if things must get better.
