Ekpeyong, explained that his ministry has brought the situation under control, saying self medications by communities involved without hospital involvement led to the spread of the disease which resulted from contaminated water.

She said her ministry is working with the World Health Organisation (WHO),and Cross River State Primary Health Care Development Agency, (CRSPHCDA), to get quick and immediate response.

The Obubra Cholera Outbreak occured barely a month after about fifteen persons lost their lives to the disease in Abi and Odukpani Local Government Areas of Cross River State.
