The Chairman of the Abuja Municipal Area Council, AMAC, Abdullahi Candido, has described allegations of abuse of office against him by the Civil Society for Human Rights and Rehabilitation as baseless and politically motivated.

The Chairman, while addressing reporters in Abuja, said all the allegations against him including claims that his administration received 19 billion Naira in three years were all false.

The Civil Society for Human Rights and Rehabilitation had last week staged a protest at the AMAC Headquarters in Abuja with a petition alleging infractions by the area council Chairman.

Some of the allegations bordered on abuse of office, disregard for appropriation, and procurement act which the council Chairman debunked.

Also on the petition is an allegation that the area council received 19 billion Naira between 2016 and 2019.

The legislative arm of the area council are currently investigating the allegations against the council Chairman and would make their findings known on a later date.
