A Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC to appear before it on the 30th of March, 2021 over the failure of the commission to register Africa Youth Democratic Party.
Ruling in an application brought before the court by members of the party, led by Samuel Olalekan and seven others, Justice Ahmed Mohammed, granted leave to the applicants to apply for a judicial review and to seek for an order of mandamus compelling the electoral body to appear before the court.
Counsel for the applicants informed the court that, the political association known as Africa Youth Democratic Party lodged a letter with the Independent National Electoral Commission, as an intending political party since December 2020, but the commission has failed to register the party.
