A Federal High Court, Calabar division Justice, Simon Amobeda, on Wednesday, rescued himself from the case of Agba Jalingo.
The Judge referred the case file to the administrative judge of the division.
Amobeda, in his ruling, granted the prayers of the defendant, Jalingo, a journalist and rights activist who is facing trial for alleged acts of terrorism, conspiracy, and attempts to bring down the reputation of the Cross River State government.
The judge, who held that it is the administrative judge of the division that assigns cases, said it was only proper, given the attention accorded the case by the media.
Justice Amobeda ordered that no action would be taken on the case until the registrar of the court provides the electronic verbatim recorder.
Jalingo’s fate on bail application remains unknown as there is no adjourned date until the administrative Judge, Justice Sule Musa Shuaibu, acts on the case file.
