The United States President, Donald Trump, says the operation carried out by the US security forces to rescue the 27-year-old American citizen, Philip Walton, abducted last week should serve as a stark warning to terrorists and criminal thugs who believe they can kidnap Americans with impunity.
In a statement made available to ait.live, Trump said securing the freedom of Americans held in captivity abroad has been a top national security priority of his administration.
Trump announced that since the beginning of his administration, the United States has rescued over 55 hostages and detainees in more than 24 countries.
He noted that it was his direction, that the United States military conducted a successful operation to rescue the American hostage in Nigeria, who was kidnapped just 96 hours earlier.
He said the United States Special Forces executed a daring night time operation to rescue their fellow American with exceptional skill, precision, and bravery.
The statement added that no United States Service Member was harmed.

The former hostage is currently in good health and has been reunited with his family.
