Governors of the six states in South-West Nigeria have agreed to back up Operation Amotekun with a legal framework.
Fielding questions from State House correspondents after a meeting of the governors, the Attorney-General of the Federation and Inspector-General of Police with Vice President Yemi Osinbajo at the Presidential Villa on Thursday, Chairman of the South-West Governors Forum, Rotimi Akeredolu explained that the meeting with the Vice President was fruitful and all parties have resolved to toe the path of peace.

Akeredolu noted that the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice Abubakar Malami has already denied declaring the security outfit illegal adding that he was misquoted.
The launch of Operation Amotekun on January 9, 2020, drew reactions from a cross section of Nigerians including social-cultural groups across the country.
Many commended the initiative of the South-West Governors for taking concrete step to secure their geo-political zone.
