Andy Ruiz Vows: I'll Prove the Haters Wrong again

Former WBO, IBF, IBO, WBA heavyweight world champion, Andy Ruiz, has vowed to recover the world championships that Anthony Joshua took from him in his first defense.

After a few days of reflection, Ruiz has also vowed that he will test his haters, those who believe that he won’t shine again in the professional ranks.

Ruiz shocked the sport back in June, when he dropped Joshua four times to secure a seventh round stoppage at New York’s Madison Square Garden.

He received the opportunity by chance, after Joshua’s original opponent, Jarrell Miller, was pulled from the fight after failing three drug tests.

The rematch took place last Saturday night in Saudi Arabia, with Joshua boxing past Ruiz to earn a lopsided 12 round unanimous decision to reclaim the belts.

Ruiz took a ton of heat in the aftermath, after he weighed a very heavy 283-pounds. He admitted afterwards that he partied for three months and started training camp way too late. He weighed 268-pounds for the first bout with Joshua and his team actually wanted him to weigh a bit lower.

Now Ruiz has to get back in shape, in order to begin another campaign to a world title shot.

“I have had time to reflect since Saturday’s fight. Congratulations to Anthony, he did what he had to do, now it’s time for me to do what I owe,” said Ruiz.

“I will come back stronger. I will be world champion again. I appreciate the love and support of my true fans. And I appreciate the haters too, I can’t wait to prove them wrong again. I will return to the gym and start the road to those belts.”
