Trouble broke again in Agodi gate area of Ibadan the Oyo state capital late Tuesday when a mobile police officer allegedly shot a commercial motorcyclist.
According to an eye witness trouble started after the policeman demanded bribe from an okada rider but refused to give. This led to the shooting.
The eyewitness account also said the policeman was immediately rescued by his colleagues in an armour vehicle which led to hot chase and pandemonium.
The angry commercial motorcyclists and artisans descended heavily on the nearby police station burning it down while police officers in the station ran for safety.
Oyo state police public relations officer Gbenga Fadeyi debunked the story saying that the incident was between the warders of the Agodi Correctional Centre who was trying to send away commercial motorcyclists around the correctional centre.
The PRO of the correctional centre Olarenwaju Anjorin said no gun was shot but only a tear gas to disperse the riders.
