President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Monica Dongban-Mensem has dissociated herself from news making the rounds that she has a list of preferred candidates in relation to the proposed appointment of justices to the bench od the Court.
In a statement issued on Sunday and signed by Justice Dongban-Mensem, she explained that the exercise passed through the normal process of appointment of judicial officers.
She also said that the current recommendation before the National Judicial Council, NJC was done without any preference for tribe, creed or association.

The campaign against the appointment of justices to the Court of Appeal has been going on for some weeks now in which a total of 80 nominees have been shortlisted for the appointment of 20 justices to fill existing vacancies.
