The Kano zone of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU has asked both federal and state governments to speed up the process of re-opening schools, but not without putting in place necessary anti-coronq virus measures.
ASUU’s acting zonal coordinator, Abdulkadir Mohammed told journalists on Monday that this is imperative as other sectors have opened following the COVID-19 pandemic across the country since late March.

He said university academic staff in the zone will remain on strike over the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS) of the Federal government.
The union also opposed proposed plans by the Kano state government to take over the hospitality and tourism institute belonging to Kano university of science and technology Wudil without, what the Union calls, “due consultation”.
