The Edo State Government has assured that necessary measures are being put in place to check the spread of the novel Coronavirus disease.
The State Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu, at a media briefing in Benin City, the state’s capital, on Sunday, said the state has been placed on red alert.

The media briefing had in attendance representatives of the various health-related institutions in the state.
The Deputy Governor said proactive steps are being taken to ensure that the Coronavirus disease is prevented from getting into the state.
Shaibu also stressed the importance of enlightening the citizens about preventive and protective measures against Coronavirus.
The Deputy Governor urged residents to remain calm, noting that the Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital is listed among the Coronavirus testing laboratories in Nigeria.
