Bandits numbering over 200, armed with sophisticated weapons including AK 47 rifles, simultaneously attacked six villages in Batsari Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The police, who confirmed the incident, have listed the affected villages to include Tsugunni, Yandaka, Salihawar Duba, Garin Goje, Watangadiya, and Dutse Maizane.
Some locals, however, said the bandits in their numbers last night, launched the fresh attacks on 10 villages killing, injuring and maiming unspecified number of persons.
The situation has made the police in the state to react to the development as contained in a statement by the Katsina State Police Command.
The Katsina State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Gambo Isah , in the statement made available to AIT, said the suspected bandits shot and killed one 57-year-old man, Alaramma Kabiru Kano at Garin Goje village while three others were injured at Dutse Maizane as, unspecified number of cows and sheep were rustled.

Isah said that the bandits laid ambush for the joint forces of military and police, which led to heavy exchange of fire.
He said following the exchange of gunfire, which resulted in casualties on both sides, the injured were treated and discharged at Batsari hospital Friday morning.
Isah added that the joint security operatives are presently combing the area for more arrests.
