Former World Cruiserweight Champion , Bashiru Ali has debunked insinuation by the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development that the proposed Guinness Book of World Record bout is merely a novelty match.
The 64-year old who gave the clarification in an interview with ait.live following a statement by the Ministry said that the government’s claim is far from the truth in respect of the status of the fight.
The Ministry had issued a statement on Sunday dissociating the Federal Government’s from any boxing bout involving Bash Ali.
The Ministry claims that its decision is in accordance with directives from the Presidency, which has instructed that it should not interfer in a matter over which another organisation has jurisdiction.
Meanwhile, Bashiru Ali has also been told through his lawyer, B. O. Nafagha & Co., to refrain from acts that interfer with the activities of the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development following repeated calls on the Ministry to endorse his acclaimed Guiness Book of Record fight.
