Residents in Bauchi State are demanding more centers for the National identity registration exercise.

The residents made the plea at the state’s National Identity Management, NIM, office in Bauchi, which is the only designated registration center in the state.

According to some of the residents who spoke to ait.live, the exercise is going smoothly, however the demand for more centres became necessary, so as to reduce the risk of contracting coronavirus which is in its second wave.

State Coordinator, Isa Abdulmunmini, said the commission is planning to introduce a booking mechanism to cushion the plight of the people.

He said so far, about 1,000,000 applicants have been registered.

The applicants are still hoping for an extension of the federal government’s deadline.
