In a bid to drive development and give a facelift to Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State Capital, the Governor Douye Diri administration has undertaken a massive rehabilitation of roads and demolition of illegal structures within the metropolis.
The vital Etegwe-Tombia road leading to the newly constructed Bayelsa State Cargo Airport is one of such roads receiving attention. This development has however not gone down well with some traders whose means of livelihood has been disrupted by the well-intentioned programme of the state government.
The area, which is around the popular Tombia-Etegwe market is currently being improved upon by the Bayelsa State government which has made it clear that trading in the area will not be encouraged as the Bayelsa cargo airport begins operation.

Chief Press Secretary to the the Bayelsa State Governor, Daniel Alabrah describes the situation as one of the sacrifices the people will have to pay for development. He however said arrangements have been put in place to relocate the traders to another place.
