Benin City the Edo State capital stood still on Monday as thousands of residents in the state trooped out to celebrate the victory of incumbent Governor and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Godwin Obaseki.
Speaking with AIT, the residents said Obaseki’s victory has ended the reign of Godfatherism in Edo politics.
The victory walk tagged Ogbane Victory parade was led by the Governor and his Deputy Philip Shaibu round major streets of Benin metropolis to tell the people to thank you for renewing their mandate.
Thousands of residents abandoned their work and businesses to celebrate with Obaseki and Philip Shuaibu.
The crowd walked from the Government House to the popular Oba Ovoranmwen Square and down to Mission Road, New Benin and Victory Road.
The group proceeded to Akpakpava as the shout of “Ogbane”, “4+4 ” rent the air.
