The appeal was made during the joint meeting of the two security councils at the Government House in Lafia, the Nassarawa State capital.
The Benue and Nassarawa State Security Councils have jointly appealed to the Federal Government to extend the activities of the military Operation Whirl Stroke for a period of at least two more years.

Chairman, Nasarawa State Council of Chiefs and Emir of Lafia, Sidi Muhammad who set the tone for the interactive session appealed to the Benue State Government to give its open grazing prohibition and ranches establishment law a human face noting that though the law has achieved its purpose of restoring peace it has left its neighbours at the receiving end.
The joint security council meeting was attended by the governors, royal fathers, security chiefs as well as top government functionaries of the two states
