President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the extension of Phase II of eased lockdown by another 4 weeks with effect from Tuesday, June 30.
The extension however is with some modification including lifting the ban on inter-state lockdown. Movement across state borders will however be allowed only outside the night time curfew hours of 10pm to 4am with effect from Wednesday, July 1.
The approvals granted by the President were announced by Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on Covid-19 and Secretary to Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha during Monday’s national briefing by the Task Force.
The President has also approved the reopening of schools for students in the graduating classes of SSS 3 and JSS 3 who will resume in-person to prepare for their final examinations. The Common Entrance Examination for final year pupils of primary schools will also be organised as soon as practicable.
Meanwhile, the President has ordered the enforcement of laws around non-pharmaceutical interventions by States including use of face masks in public places

Domestic flights are also allowed to resume at the country’s airports as soon as practicable.
It would be recalled that the PTF was at the Presidential Villa earlier on Monday to brief the President and submit its recommendations for approval.
