Hundreds of hoodlums have taken to the streets of Calabar, the Cross River State capital looting and burnt down some major public property.
Structures affected include the new building of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, and the Calabar Municipality Zonal Office of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
Others are parts of the Nigerian Chronicles Newspaper building owned by Cross River State Government and the State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA office.
Other major private shopping malls including the Value Mart owned by wife of former Governor of Cross River State, Obioma Liyel Imoke
The attacks are happening even after the Governor Ben Ayade had imposed 24-hour Curfew effective from 6pm on Friday.
The rampaging youths who carried various weapons including local guns, cutlass and axes also injured many residents during their operations.
Joint Security operatives including the Police, Army and Navy however came to the rescue to prevent total breakdown of law and order
