The Confederation Cup match between Rivers United and South African side Bloemfontein Celtic has been postponed until a later date according to Africa FOOTBALL governing body CAF.

The second leg match was earlier scheduled for Wednesday 6th of January, 2021 at the Adokie Amaisiemaka Stadium in Port-Harcourt.

The Nigeria Football Federation, NFF had written to CAF through its secretary-general on Tuesday seeking the postponement of the match to another suitable date or change of the venue to a neighboring country.

This was after the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control NCDC declined to offer waivers to the Bloemfontein Celtic contingent that would have exempted the South Africans from observing local Covid-19 protocols including quarantining for a week.

Rivers United hold a two nil lead from the first leg and would progress to the next round if they avoid defeat in the second leg.
