In the spirit of Christmas, Cross River State’s First Lady, Linda Ayade, has donated gifts to the new born baby, delivered at the General Hospital Calabar.
The Governor’s wife who arrived at the hospital along with some health service providers in the state, said the visit and the gifts were in the spirit of the festive period.
The Governor’s wife, represented by the Commissioner for Health, Dr Betta Edu, also offset the medical bills of the baby and mother, along with others, who were in the hospital on Christmas day.

She said the efforts of the state government in reducing maternal and child mortality rates in Cross River is yielding results, with many young mothers and pregnant women taking delivery of their babies in the government approved medical facilities.
The Medical Superintendent of the Hospital, Patrick Nkoma and the Grandmother of the new born baby, Beatrice Enyiam said, the baby has attracted gifts to her mother and the entire family on Christmas day.
Dr Ayade had in the past five years, visited hospitals on Christmas and New Year’s Day, to provide gifts to the new born baby, as part of the festive celebrations.
