The Government of Cameroon has asked for support from Nigeria through the Cross River State Government to enable repatriate her citizens currently seeking asylum in the state.
This followed a peace deal reached in the troubled Central African country between government authorities and separatists.
Representative of Cameroon Consulate in Nigeria, Onana Patrick made the request when he visited Governor Ben Ayade in his office.

While thanking Government and the People of Cross River State for the support given to the asylum seekers; the Cameroonian Envoy said out of the fifty eight thousand cameroon refugees living in Nigeria ,sixty two percent of them are living in Cross River.
He said the Governor of the South West Province will visit Governor Ayade in a matter of weeks.
In his response, Governor Ben Ayade assured Cameroon of his administration support for the refugees.
Parts of Southern Cameroon seeking for Ambazonia Republic have been in crisis in the last two and half years with the Government, a development that led to crisis in the region which caused mass movement into Nigeria with Cross River in particular becoming their refuge.
