Candidates for forthcoming local government councils election in Kano state have commended the Kano State State Independent Electoral Commission, KANSIEC, for introducing drug test for contestants in the forthcoming council elections.
Some of the contestants told ait.live that the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, conducted the test on over 500 elective office seekers.
The state electoral umpire introduced the drugs test as part of the qualification for those seeking to contest in the local government council election slated to hold on Saturday 16th of January.
Some politicians who passed the test said the test will bring about political sanity in the state.

Over 500 candidates were tested and the few that tested positive, most of the contestants for councillorship positions have been disqualified.
