Some Civil Society groups have commended the peace initiative of Governor Bello Mohammed’s administration to ensure that lasting peace and security return to the state.
They want the Federal Government to give support to the ongoing peace and reconciliation process in Zamfara State, to enable the state government bring to an end, the long years of violent conflict.
The groups gave the commendation after an on the spot assessment of the Bello Mohammed administration’s achievements across the state, for the first and second years in office.
The Civil society organizations said they were impressed with the roadmap to the peace initiative of Governor Bello Mohammed’s administration to restore peace and stability in the state.
They described the Rural Grazing Area, RUGA project being constructed by the Zamfara State government as part of efforts to ensure that peace returns to the state.

They described it as a bold step taken by the state government to broker peace between the farmers and herders, which the Federal and other state governments should emulate, to end insecurity in the country.
They applauded the present administration in Zamfara State for completing abandoned and uncompleted projects by the past administration.
The Civil Society groups believed that if herders are situated in one place, such as in the Rural Grazing Area, RUGA project, it will help a great deal to resolve the farmers/herders conflict.
They want the RUGA project initiative to be replicated in other states in the northern region to stamp out insecurity and restore lasting peace.
