Justice Amobeda of the Federal High Court, Calabar, has fixed October 22 and 23, for the the commencement of trial of Journalist and publisher of Crossriverwatch, Agba Jalingo.
The date was set at the instance of the prosecution counsel DSP. Denis Tarhemba.
Tarhemba, a Deputy Superintendent of Police told the Court on Thursday in his opening statement that the process filed by the defendant was served on him less than an hour before the Court resumed sitting on the matter. He sought for time to file his response.
Speaking during an interview, the lead counsel to the defendant, Attah Ochinke said the Prosecuting Counsel was served appropriately but the court decision on the adjourned date is good for the argument on the motion.
Jalingo has been returned to Afokang Prison till the next adjournment date. He has spent 22 days in the Prison so far.
The Journalist is under trial on four count charge bordering on terrorism, treasonable felony, cultism and attempt to topple the Cross River State government.
